People are being called to take part in a Christmas card writing event to send messages of hope around the world.
The event is being organised by the Hornsey and Wood Green branch of Amnesty International and the Haringey Green party.
People are invited to Hornsey Vale Community Centre in Mayfield Road, Stroud Green, on Saturday December 8, where they can write cards and letters of solidarity to someone who is in danger or unjustly imprisoned.
The event is in its fifth year and last year Christmas 275 cards and 145 letters were sent to political prisoners.
Dennis Bradley from Amnesty International said: “This campaign goes back to the roots of Amnesty as an organisation, which began campaigning by writing letters of solidarity to victims.
“Sending a message of solidarity to those whose rights are being abused and also to the authorities on that person’s behalf is so powerful.”
The day’s event will run from 2pm to 5pm with refreshments on offer for those taking part.
