The family of a teenager who died of cancer two years ago donated cups to two ice skaters who impressed judges during a pantomime last night.
The trophies were given to 13-year-old Yasmin Tilly and 18-year-old Poppy Miles for their part in Sleeping Beauty on Ice at Alexandra Palace.
Yasmin said she was “thrilled” to win the AWTF Skaters Cup, and Poppy said she was “proud” to be given the AWTF Christmas Show Cup.
The family of 17-year-old Alexandra Wylie set up the Alexandra Wylie Tower Foundation (AWTF) to help children achieve dreams, especially in the arts – a subject Alexandra was particularly passionate about.
Alexandra's mother Lindsey said: “Skating in the pantomime was definitely on of the main highlights of Alexandra's year and we have been so grateful to everyone at Ally Pally for their continued wonderful support of us and the charity.
“Donating the cups is a very small way of being able to say thank you.”
Pantomime director Becky Smith said: “It was very difficult to choose the winners but two girls stood out particularly in terms of their commitment to producing a wonderful show.”
