The Spurs stadium project moved a step forward after Haringey Borough Council agreed to buy land for the Northumberland Park project.
The land, in Northumberland Park, will be bought by the council and sold to Tottenham Hotspur, which will mean the project will not be held up by 'right to light' claims.
Those affected will be able to claim compensation and but importantly will not be able to hold up the construction with legal challenges.
Councillor Alan Strickland, cabinet member for economic regeneration, said: “This agreement with Spurs paves the way for the next step in the regeneration of Tottenham, which will create much-needed new jobs and homes for our residents.
“It will allow the club to get developing its fantastic new stadium which should become a landmark for the area and boost the local economy.”
Work has already started on the construction of the new Sainsbury’s supermarket which is expected to be finished by 2016.
The new 56,000-seater stadium and 280 homes will not be completed until the current White Hart Lane stadium is demolished in 2016.
Also as part of the Northumberland Park Project there are plans for improvements to roads and public transport at White Hart Lane Station and Tottenham Hale Station.
The £400million project is a key part of the council’s Plan for Tottenham which it says is vital to the redevelopment of the area.
