A car was destroyed and a garage roof damaged after a fire at a vehicle repair workshop in Edmonton.
A member of the public alerted the London Fire Brigade after they smelt burning and saw smoke coming from the building in Eastbournia Avenue during the early hours on New Year’s Day.
Four engines and 25 firefighters attended at around 12.30am and had the fire under control an hour later.
An LFB spokesperson said: “When crews initially arrived on scene they had to cut away the metal roller shutter doors to gain access before firefighters wearing breathing apparatus could tackle the fire.”
Investigators believe it was caused accidentally by an electrical fault in the car.
No injuries were reported.
