Police say they have recovered shell casings after gunshots were reportedly fired from a car.
The incident is reported to have happened in Hornsey Lane near Ashmount Road, Highgate, just before 1.20am today (June 28).
A cordon was put in place between a point east of the junction with Hornsey Lane Gardens and Ashmount Road.
The Metropolitan Police say officers carried out an extensive area search and several shell casings were discovered.
A spokesperson said: "At this early stage officer believe that the shots were fired from a car.
"An extensive area search was conducted but the suspects were not located."
Police said there were no reported injuries and enquiries are continuing.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police on 101 and quote reference 396/28JUN.
