The RSPCA is appealing for information after a man was reported to have punched and kicked a dog in an attack that lasted several minutes.
The incident took place outside a café in Lordship Lane, Tottenham, on June 18 at around 12.30pm.
A customer at the cafe reported seeing the attack on the animal, who appeared to have signs of previous harm - including a swollen eye and mouth.
The female dog is described medium-sized and tan/gold in colour, with floppy ears.
The RSPCA has released a photo of a man who was reportedly in the area during the time of the incident, who they think might have information that could help with the investigation.
Inspector Shahnaz Ahmad, who is leading the investigation, said: "I’m appealing to people in the local area for information about this alleged incident, including this man who may have been in the area at the time.
"Someone who was in the cafe reports seeing a man punch and kick the dog outside and alleges the beating lasted several minutes.
"We are keen to find the dog so we can check that they are okay as part of our enquiries."
The RSPCA encourages anyone with details about this incident or similar acts of animal abuse in Tottenham to call their appeals line on 0300 123 8018.
