A suspect is on the loose in Enfield as the wife and two daughters of BBC 5 Live commentator John Hunt have been killed by a suspected crossbow murderer.
Carol Hunt, 61, who was married to the racing presenter, and two of their daughters Louise, 25, and Hannah, 28, were found seriously injured at a home in Ashlyn Close yesterday (July 9).
Herts Police and the East of England Ambulance Service were called just before 7pm, but a spokesperson confirmed that “despite their best efforts” all three victims died at the scene.
A massive manhunt to find 26-year-old Kyle Clifford was then launched with officers searching across the Hertfordshire and north London areas, where they believe he may be.
It is thought that Clifford, from the Enfield area, “may be in possession of a crossbow” and anyone who sees him is urged not to approach but to instead call 999 “straight away”.
In a press conference this afternoon, Herts Police Chief Superintendent Jon Simpson told reporters: “Our overarching objective today is to protect public safety and to locate Kyle Clifford, who is wanted in connection with the murder of the three women in what we believe is a targeted incident.
“We have extensive police resources deployed to various locations in north London and also the Bushey area.”
Armed police swarmed an address in Rendlesham Road, Enfield, as part of a search connected to the murders, this morning.
Some Enfield Primary Schools have been keeping children inside as a precaution.
The force said it is looking at whether it had contact with the victims or Clifford before the killings.
One Ashlyn Close resident described hearing screams between 6.30pm and 7pm. Footage shows a man walking to a car in a nearby road to Ashlyn Close, Bushey, at around 7pm last night.
He is shown placing an object hidden under a white sheet - thought to be a crossbow – in a car before driving off.
Messages of condolence have begun pouring in from figures within the racing world, with the BBC describing the events as “utterly devastating”.
