Police have issued a correction following reports of a man having been 'stabbed' on Westminster Bridge.

Officers were called to the London landmark at 10.43am today (November 24) with reports of a fight. 

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attended with the London Air Ambulance where they found a man in cardiac arrest. 

An initial statement from officials advised that the nature of the incident was a stabbing, but it has since been advised this information was inaccurate.

According to a Metropolitan Police spokesperson, "initial reports suggested the man had been stabbed, but further enquiries have confirmed this is not the case."

The man remains in a critical condition and enquiries are underway to confirm how it is he came to suffer a cardiac arrest. 

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and one person has been arrested on suspicion of affray.

Paramedics took two of those arrested to hospital with head injuries.

Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident.

Officers are also urging anyone with CCTV, mobile phone footage, or dashcam footage that may be able to assist the investigation to come forward.
