ROCK legend Ray Davies visited Muswell Hill on Monday night to open a music block at Fortismere school designed to get the pupils really going.
The Kinks frontman, who grew up in Fortis Green, was the guest of honour at the celebration of the brand new facilities which is an extension of the Creighton Avenue school's performing arts complex.
He was treated to an array of music performances from steel pans to a performance from the acclaimed Crouch End Festival Chorus.
Fortismere, a foundation school, now has the power to select pupils based on their musical ability and the new music centre will help pupils develop even further.
It was funded under the previous Government's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.
