POLICE have upped patrols after a woman was raped in Harringay Passage over the weekend.
The 26-year-old was walking from Turnpike Lane through the passage in the early hours of Sunday morning when she was grabbed from behind and assaulted.
Her attacker then raped her at about 02.35am between Turnpike Lane and Sydney Road.
Police and an ambulance crew were called to the scene and the victim was taken to North Middlesex Hospital, in Edmonton, for treatment. She was discharged later that day.
Harringay Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) has stepped up "high-visibility" patrols during the day and response team officers have been asked to pay extra attention during the night.
Detectives from Sapphire Unit, the Met's specialist rape investigators, are now trying to hunt down the rapist and enquiries are ongoing.
The suspect was described as wearing dark clothing.
